The film is a great example of the real/imaginary/symbolic triad as you point out in extremely well in a very concise reading of the film. Your conclusion also resonates with me for the way in which it, again, very succinctly, expresses the power of fiction to depict phenomena in a very real way that so-called realistic modes of thought often fail to do even half as well.
